Professor (McGill University, Montreal, Canada)) and Chief of Endocrinology (Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, Canada) brings 40 years of combined clinical and academic experience, with his research focused on Translational Medicine. He has been able to achieve this through a strong background in fundamental research in the fields of cancer, molecular genetics, and endocrinological diseases, which has resulted in advancing complex projects leading to the advancement of innovative nanotherapies and diagnostic tools. As a highly accomplished Professor, he has also focused on the biological and clinical implications of the androgen receptor (AR) function and its role in prostate cancer (PCa) progression and metabolic syndromes through high throughput omics screening and transgenic mouse models. This has resulted in significant discoveries that have led to impactful innovations, including: Ascribing novel roles to the AR such as alternative splicing, translation and participating in the mutation phenotype (process of cells to acquire new mutations). Most recently, his research has focused on incorporating nanotechnology into medical technologies. As a result, this has led to the development of using gold nanoparticles for the application of Plasmonic PCR platform for rapid point-of-care diagnostics. Another application has been the use of carbon-nanotubes, as a therapeutic modality to overcome tumor heterogeneity, for the targeted photoablation of tumors. In all, the outcome of these experiences has been working with various funding organizations to secure funding to assist in building of high-performance and multidisciplinary teams (biologists, engineers, chemists, computational scientists), fostering worldwide collaborations, and steering novel technologies from concept to clinical staging.

Miltiadis Paliouras, Ph.D., brings over over 20 years of combined academic and industry experience, with a strong background in fundamental research in the fields of cancer, molecular genetics, and endocrinological diseases. His expertise bridges fundamental science and translational innovation, steering cutting-edge technologies from concept to clinical application. As such, his work has led to the development of innovative cancer therapeutic and point-of-care diagnostic platforms. Dr. Paliouras is named as an inventor on 8 issued and pending patents across the US, Canada, and Europe, reflecting his commitment to developing and protecting and novel intellectual property from his research. Furthermore, through strategic project leadership, he has assisted in securing several millions in funding to advance these novel R&D technologies. He has published 38 peer-reviewed journal articles and 2 book chapters, contributing significantly to cancer biology, nanomedicine, and molecular diagnostics. His work has been featured in over 60 scientific conferences and invited lectures worldwide, highlighting his role as both a scientific leader and a product-focused entrepreneur.
